Is sandblasting + anodizing just a process to make metal surfaces “look better”? The answer is definitely no. These two surface treatments are not only about appearance—they play a practical and important role in product performance.
Sandblasting: Creating the Ideal Surface Condition
Sandblasting is a method that uses high-speed particles to impact the surface of a workpiece. Its functions include:

- Removing impurities, oxide scale, burrs, and flash, ensuring the cleanliness of the material surface and providing a good foundation for subsequent processing or treatment.
- Increasing surface roughness, which helps improve the adhesion of subsequent coatings to the workpiece, making the anodized layer more uniform and durable. Note: products after sandblasting will have a uniform, matte finish with a frosted texture. However, the surface finish is generally above Ra 1.6.

Anodizing: More Than Just Aesthetic
Anodizing forms an oxide layer on the metal surface through an electrochemical process. This layer can display various colors, but more importantly:

When products are used outdoors, under strong light, or exposed to long-term UV radiation, the process is usually upgraded to UV-resistant anodizing.
Sandblasting + Anodizing + UV Resistance: Prevents the oxide layer and color from fading or aging under sunlight, maintaining a long-lasting and uniform appearance.
