Brushed surface treatment

Brushed surface treatment is a common metal surface treatment process, which mainly uses mechanical means to produce uniform fine lines or lines on the metal surface. It is often used for surface decoration of stainless steel, aluminum alloy, copper and other materials.

1. The role of brushed surface treatment

Decorative: A brushed finish can enhance the aesthetics of metal surfaces by creating a visually appealing uniform texture .

Corrosion resistance: After wire drawing, a more corrosion-resistant oxide film may be formed on the surface, enhancing its anti-oxidation ability.

Anti-fingerprint: After brushing, the fine texture on the surface can effectively reduce the retention of fingerprints and stains, and can also hide minor surface flaws.

Improve glossiness: The brushing process can adjust the surface glossiness as needed to meet the needs of different products.

2. Wire drawing process

Mechanical brushing: Use sandpaper or wire brushes of different coarseness to rub back and forth on the metal surface through mechanical force to produce fine linear texture.

Chemical wire drawing: The metal surface is corroded by chemical methods (such as pickling) to obtain a similar wire drawing effect, which is usually used in mass production.

Electrolytic wire drawing: Using electric current to pass through the metal surface to form fine textures, usually used for processing aluminum alloys and stainless steel.

3.Common brushed effects

Coarse brushed ( 60-100 ) : The texture is obvious and the lines are relatively thick. It is suitable for materials such as stainless steel and copper, giving people a strong industrial style.

Medium brushed ( 120-180 ): The lines are even and delicate, suitable for home appliances, decorative panels, etc.

Fine brushed ( 240-400 ) : Fine texture and soft lines, widely used in high-end home appliances, electronic products and other fields with high requirements on appearance.

Mirror brushed: ( 600-2000 ): The surface is very smooth and shiny, but still retains the brushed texture, usually used for products with strong decorative effects.

Straight brushed: The most common brushed method, with long straight lines and consistent direction, often used in decorative panels such as elevator doors, home appliance casings, etc.

Random brushed: The texture is staggered and has no fixed direction. It is cloudy or silky, has strong concealment ability, and is mostly used for stainless steel decorative surfaces.

Corrugated brushed: The surface presents regular or irregular arc-shaped patterns, usually processed with a circular brushed wheel, with a strong decorative effect.

Cross-grain brushed wire: First draw vertically and then horizontally to form a cross texture, which has a stronger overall texture but is more difficult to process.

4. Application areas

Stainless steel products: Commonly used in kitchen utensils, door and window decoration, furniture and other fields.

Aluminum alloy products: Mainly used in construction, automobile, aviation and other industries.

Home appliance industry: Brushed treatment is commonly seen on the outer shells of home appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, and microwave ovens.

Electronic products: High-end electronic products such as mobile phone cases, computer exteriors, etc. often use brushed surface treatment.

5. Note

1. Fragile: If the surface is subjected to strong friction or collision, the brushed effect may be destroyed.

2. Difficulty in cleaning: Although it reduces fingerprints, the darker brushed texture may accumulate dust and require regular cleaning.

3. Irregular geometric shapes are not suitable for wire drawing.
